If I Ain’t Obtained You” is a tune recorded by American singer-songwriter Alicia Keys for her second studio album The Diary of Alicia Keys(2003). Impressed by the 2001 loss of life of singer Aaliyah, the September 11 assaults, and different occasions on the earth and in Keys’ life, the tune is about “how materials issues don’t feed the soul”. It was launched because the second single from The Diary of Alicia Keys on February 17, 2004, by J Information. The one cowl depicts Keys equally to the topic of Man Ray‘s 1924 {photograph} Le Violon d’Ingres.

In 1994, supervisor Jeff Robinson met 13-year previous Keys, who participated in his brother’s youth group referred to as Teenagers in Movement. ^{Robinson’s brother had been giving Keys vocal classes in Harlem. His brother had talked to him about Keys and suggested him to go see her, however Robinson shrugged it off as he had “heard that story 1,000 instances”.}

On the time, Keys was a part of a three-member band that had fashioned within the Bronx and was performing in Harlem.  ^{Robinson finally agreed to his brother’s request, and went to see Keys carry out along with her group on the Police Athletic League middle in Harlem. He was quickly taken by Keys, her soulful singing, taking part in modern and classical music and performing her personal songs.}
